Kaitlyn has become obsessed with dark hair. She tells me that when she turns 10 she is going to dye her hair dark. Apparently her and her two BFF's, Reagan and Isabela, sit around at school and talk about how Reagan and Isabela (both brunettes) want blonde hair and how Kaitlyn wants dark hair. Lately, when she is playing around the house I will call her name and she will tell me "I'm not Kaitlyn, my name is Katie" then she will bring me a toy or a stuffed animal and pretending to be someone else she says to me, "This is for your daughter Katie", then 5 minutes later she comes back again and says "Whose is this?" and I give the response I have been told to give "It's Katie's" and she says "Well that would be me." She is hysterical. I never know if I am talking to Kaitlyn or Katie but she is quick to correct me if I get it wrong.
On to her new love interest.....
Apparently she is sooooo over Zac Effron. The new love of her life is Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber is 16 years old and is every teenage girl's dream. Kaitlyn likes to pretend she is 16.
She always wants me to spell his name for her so she can write it on a piece of paper. She knows every word of his song "Baby" and she takes my People magazine the instant I get it out of the mailbox and scours it for pictures of him. I actually have to tell her to let me read it first because she will be ready, scissors in hand, to cut out every picture she can find before I even read it. I get them in the mail on Fridays and she will ask me all night, practically every hour, "Have you finished it yet?" He was on the cover a couple of weeks ago and they did a story on him as well so she got quite a few pictures from that one.
He was also the musical guest on Saturday Night Live a couple of weeks ago and I recorded it for her. I played it back for her when Grampy and Grammy were here visiting one day and she performed. She was a little more reserved in her performance then she normally is because she knew Grampy and Grammy were watching her. This is where I was going to post the video of her performance but after trying to post it 4 times I figured out it must be too long to post because it wouldn't upload :-(. When we were at Tom and Thelma's a week or so ago Kaitlyn was out picking wildflowers in the yard. She picked one of those flowers/weeds that you blow and all the fluffy things fly away. I told her to make a wish and then blow on it, which she did. I then asked her what she wished for and she said "I wished I would marry Justin Bieber". Oh dear, what do you do with a boy crazy 5 year old? I thought this wasn't supposed to start until she is in her teens.
I am sure that "Katie" and Justin Bieber would live happily ever after ;-).
